This Saturday is the best holiday of them all: Halloween! And we think the official mascot of this spooky season is the good-ole black cat—crouched next to a glowing jack-o-lantern.
Sure, there are witches, bats, ghosts, goblins, and vampires. But the sleek, nocturnal cat seems so appropriate as a symbol of Halloween. And if you area cat owner, you should treat your kitty to something special this weekend.
While you are at the store buying candy for all those trick-or-treaters, take a moment to head down the pet aisle and pick up your cat’s favorite treat—and perhaps a fun new toy.
After all, what would Halloween be without black cats darting across your path, a cozy cat curled up in front of the fireplace, or a frisky feline out on its moonlit, midnight patrol?
Halloween is such a wonderful time for us people, but for our cats, it can be a little stressful. Armies of kids marching up and down the street, your front door constantly being knocked upon and opened, and the loud noises can all be a bit discomforting to your cat.
Make sure you take care of your cat this Saturday evening, which may require you to lock it up in the basement where it can nap, enjoy some peace and quiet, and not be bothered by all the hub-bub.
Then, once the night is late and it looks like the children have all gone home for the evening, spend some quality time with your pet. Break out the treats and the toy and do some real bonding.
And if your cat is an outdoor critter, feel free to let it out for a midnight stroll once the streets are quiet.
